Responsibilities

  • Show strong HSE leadership during the well construction planning and execution phases.
  • Be responsible for the planning and execution of drilling operations.
  • Lead office and field based drilling teams.
  • Follow up on daily basis the drilling and testing operations and plan ahead in order to ensure seamless and efficient operations with minimal downtime.
  • Follow up of the performance of the well with respect to established KPIs and making recommendations for operational improvement.
  • Tracking service company performances and reviewing reports of non-conformance events.
  • Be proactive in knowledge management by capturing lessons learnt and implementing actions for continuously improving the well design and operations including recommending and implementing new technologies.
  • Manage and control costs for drilling and creation of well AFEs.
  • Approve and implement Drilling Programs in accordance with company policies, industry standard and local regulation.
  • Manage the development of Scope of Works for contracting drilling services as well as conducting the technical evaluations and recommending the companies for proceeding to the commercial evaluation.
  • Ensuring equipment and personnel involved in the operations are with current certification requirements, equipment inspected and fit for purpose.
  • Support Peer, Assists and Technical reviews
  • Preparation of pre-spud activities, including Risk Assessments, HAZIDS, HAZOPS and major hazard management procedures.
  • QA/QC of essential data capture and accuracy on company´s reporting systems.
  • Ensure proper training and career development for all team members.

Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Bachelor or advance degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years industry experience in the role as a Drilling Manager
  • Drilling Manager in Offshore and Onshore environments
  • Managing startup single string exploration in remote environments
  • Holder of current applicable well control certification
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering projects with high safety and environment management standards
  • Drilling Performance Management Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas
  • Very good oral, presentation and written communication skills in English. (Spanish is nice to have) Must be able to communicate efficiently with various operational units and with a variety of nationalities and educational levels
  • Knowledge of Landmark applications for stress analyses (Openwells,Stress Check, WellCat.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and different cultural environments.
  • Proven track record as a strong team player
