Responsibilities

  • Performing monthly accounting close, including recording of monthly journal entries, collaborating with Back and Middle Office, reconciliation of Accounting to economic P&Ls. Conducting balance sheet and income statement analysis ,identifying cause of material differences between periods and within current results.
  • Assisting in structured contract review to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Providing financial and management analysis for the Trading Business and Corporate Accounting.
  • Assisting in preparation of yearly audited financial statements and disclosures and unaudited quarterly statements Participating in current project reviews to identify problem areas, root causes and identify improvements to increase accuracy and timeliness of monthly close.
  • Providing support for external and internal audits
  • Assisting in developing a system of policies and procedures which impose an adequate level of control while ensuring that activities are in line with corporate policies, accounting guidance and internal controls.
  • Assisting in identifying gaps in system interfaces, recommending improvements to existing data flows, interacting with the business unit to implement recommended improvements, determining appropriate accounting treatment and presenting in the financial statements.
  • Providing leadership toward additional value added activities which support operational and departmental excellence, while fostering teamwork between all functions and at all times maintaining honest and ethical conduct.

Qualifications

  • The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ derivative accounting experience within the energy sector
  • Strong understanding of monthly close process and experience with process automation
  • Previous experience with analysis of structured deals under IFRS and USGaaP
  • Strong understanding of the energy industry and commodity trading activity specifics
  • Ability to build solid working relationships with Front, Middle and Back office personnel
  • Previous experience with SAP, Allegro and Endur highly preferred
  • Experience working in an international organization with an overseas parent company is a plus
