Candidate Profile

 

The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will have solid accounting and business acumen along with strong work ethic which is critical for month and quarterly reporting deadlines. This role requires collaboration with individuals in various teams and offices; thereby, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. Viable candidates will need to be a self-starter who can work independently and take initiative. This role requires the ability to work at a senior level and communicate technical accounting matters along with a deep understanding of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various month-end reporting tasks including variance/trending analysis and reporting of financial results for the US entities and Business Units to the Corporate Head Office
  • Assist in the accounting of non-recurring transactions including acquisitions, divestitures and other business activity in accordance with IFRS
  • Lead ad-hoc accounting projects as required
  • Preparation and review of single entity and consolidated statutory financial statements
  • Responsible for preparing the audited 401K Plan Financial Statements
  • Identify, research and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and corporate accounting policies.
  • Assist in the management of Internal Control compliance
  • Support the Corporate Head Office with external financial reporting requirements
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Improve processes associated with producing timely and accurate financial statements

Qualifications

  • The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 8+ years of experience working in Financial Accounting/Reporting
  • Familiarity with SAP a plus
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel and Power Point

 

Key Competencies/Preferred Qualifications

  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards a plus
  • Accounting experience within the energy sector preferred
  • Strong writing, verbal and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented coupled with the ability to learn quickly
  • Spanish language a plus
